On Tuesday morning, December 7th 2021, President Biden visited the World War II Memorial in Washington to mark the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan. He was accompanied by first lady Jill Biden, and the couple walked to a wreath in the center of the Memorial, waved to the press, and then saluted the wreath.

The significance of the wreath (pictured above) is that it contains a the state flower of Kansas, The Wild Sunflower, this honored the late senator, Robert J. Dole, a veteran of war who was awarded two Purple Hearts for his service during World War II. Dole passed away at 98, this Sunday, December 5, 2021 and was a true American Hero.
